Development of a measuring system of NC machine utilization rate

The system consolidates operational status of machine tool by detecting vibration of machine tool using wireless sensor.

Purpose of the system

The system consolidates operation rate by the data from sensor terminal intalled on machine tool to measure operation rate in the factory. The system enables unattended 24/7 monitoring, so, operation rate comparison with its expensive machine is obvious at a glance.

Feature of system

Remote control by wireless sensor network

– The system monitors operation rate of machine tools installed in factory from separate office by sending the vibration data of the machine tools in operation to the supervisory PC in the separate office via wireless sensor network.

Consolidation of multiple NC machine tools

-Operational status of multiple NC machine tools are controlled by one PC, therefore, comparison of operation rate and relative valuation of each machine tool will be much easier.

Separate setting of individual NC machine tool

– Threshold (boundary value of vibration to judge “in operation” or “nonoperation”) can be set to individual NC machine tool, therefore,judgement of operatinal status of individual machine tool with inherant vibration feature is possible.

Low cost introduction

– Machine tool with operatinal status diagnosis capability is expensive to install. The system can be easily installed in the conventional machine tool with no diagnostic capability and the system uses wireless sensor network, so, no need of communication infrastrucute construction between factory and office.
